June 2017 Program Guide at Daggerwing Nature Center

All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please call (561) 629-8760 or visit the nature center to make program reservations. Fees (if applicable) are due the day of the program by cash or check only. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program. If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program for which you have made a reservation, your spot may be given to a person on the waiting list. 

ANIMAL FEEDINGS
Daily, 3:15-3:30 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
3:15 p.m. is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about one of Daggerwing’s resident animals and then watch while it’s fed. Wednesday - Opossum; Thursday - Snake; Friday - Owl; Saturday - Alligator

MOTHER NATURE & ME: WILD WEBS
Tuesday, June 6, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/ guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

DAGGERWING VISITS THE LIBRARY: FROGS & TOADS
Tuesday, June 6, 3:30 p.m.
Ages 5+, FREE (Reservations required) 
Enjoy a special program about amphibians featuring a visit from the nature center’s resident animal ambassadors, at the Glades Road Branch Library! Call the Glades Road Branch Library for details and to RSVP at (561) 482-4554.

ANIMAL KEEPER FOR A DAY
Thursday, June 8, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Ever wondered what it would be like to be an animal keeper? Work behind the scenes* with Animal Care Staff and Volunteers. From cleaning cages and feeding diets to providing enrichment, learn what it really means to care for these special animal ambassadors. *Kids may get messy!

INTRO TO CANOEING
Thursday, June 15, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Join ACA certified staff who will teach the parts and terms associated with canoeing as well as the basic skills needed to successfully navigate a canoe. Practice paddling skills on a leisurely canoe cruise on the nature center’s waterways. Please bring a water bottle, sun protection, and closed-toed shoes (or water shoes) that can get wet/muddy. 

RADICAL REPTILES
Saturday, June 17, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 5+, $3/participant (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist for a family friendly program focusing on the amazing world of reptiles! Learn about these diverse scaly creatures and meet some resident reptiles up close and personal.

MOTHER NATURE & ME: DAY AT THE BEACH

FISHING FUN
Thursday, June 22, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Learn the basics of freshwater fishing and practice learned skills. Class includes: fishing pole basics, casting tips, and freshwater fish identification. All fishing supplies are provided. Please bring a water bottle, sun protection, and closed-toed shoes (or water shoes) that can get wet/muddy.
