July 2017 Program Guide at Daggerwing Nature Center

All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please call (561) 629-8760 or visit the nature center to make program reservations. Fees (if applicable) are due the day of the program by cash or check only. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program. If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program for which you have made a reservation, your spot may be given to a person on the waiting list. 

ANIMAL FEEDINGS
Daily, 3:15-3:30 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
3:15 p.m. is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about one of Daggerwing’s resident animals and then watch while it’s fed. Wednesday - Opossum; Thursday - Snake; Friday - Owl; Saturday - Alligator

INTRO TO ARCHERY 
Thursday July 6, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Join the USA Archery and N.F.A.A. certified staff and learn about the sport of archery. This exciting program teaches how to properly use a bow and arrow and archery safety skills before getting time to practice on the range.

FROG TALK
Saturday, July 8, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 5+, $3/participant (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist for a family friendly program focusing on the amazing world of amphibians! Learn differences between frogs and toads and why they are important to the environment. Also, play a listening game to identify local frogs and toads by their calls while meeting some resident amphibians up close and personal.

DAGGERWING VISITS THE LIBRARY: OWL
Tuesday, July 11, 3:30 p.m.
Ages 5-10, FREE (Reservations required)
Enjoy a special program about owls featuring a visit from Artemis, the nature center’s resident animal ambassador, at the West Boca Branch Library! Call the West Boca Branch Library for details and RSVP at (561) 470-1600.

MOTHER NATURE & ME: TURTLE TIME
Tuesday, July 18, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/ guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

ANIMAL KEEPER FOR A DAY
Thursday, July 20, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Ever wondered what it would be like to be an animal keeper? Work behind the scenes* with Animal Care Staff and Volunteers. From cleaning cages and feeding diets to providing enrichment, learn what it really means to care for these special animal ambassadors. *Kids may get messy!

FISHING FUN
Friday, July 28, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Learn the basics of freshwater fishing and practice learned skills. Class includes: fishing pole basics, casting tips, and freshwater fish identification. All fishing supplies are provided. Please bring a water bottle, sun protection, and closed-toed shoes that can get wet/muddy.
