August 2017 Program Guide at Daggerwing Nature Center

All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please call (561) 629-8760 or visit the nature center to make program reservations. Fees (if applicable) are due the day of the program by cash or check only. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program. If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program for which you have made a reservation, your spot may be given to a person on the waiting list.
 
ANIMAL FEEDINGS
Daily, 3:15-3:30 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
3:15 p.m. is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about one of Daggerwing's resident animals and then watch while it's fed. Wednesday - Opossum; Thursday - Snake; Friday - Owl; Saturday - Alligator

MOTHER NATURE & ME: BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLIES
Tuesday, August 1, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/ guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

ANIMAL KEEPER FOR A DAY
Wednesday, August 2, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Ever wondered what it would be like to be an animal keeper? Work behind the scenes* with Animal Care Staff and Volunteers. From cleaning cages and feeding diets to providing enrichment, learn what it really means to care for these special animal ambassadors. *Kids may get messy!

ANIMAL ENRICHMENT WORKSHOP
Saturday, August 5, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $3/participant (Reservations required)
Watching TV, riding a bike, reading and eating ice cream are all activities people do for fun.  But what does an animal like to do for fun?  Learn how Daggerwing Nature Center cares for the animals by providing "enrichment" in their habitats.  Learn what enrichment is and help create some hands-on enrichment items that will be provided to the animals for their enjoyment!

DAGGERWING VISITS THE LIBRARY: ALLIGATORS
Tuesday, August 8, 3:30 p.m.
Ages 5+, FREE (Reservations required)
Enjoy a special program about alligators featuring a visit from the nature center's resident animal ambassador, at the Glades Road Branch Library! Call the Glades Road Branch Library for details and to RSVP at (561) 482-4554.
 
MOTHER NATURE & ME: POLAR PARTY
Tuesday, August 15, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/ guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!
 
TALKING ANIMALS 
Saturday, August 26, 10:30 a.m.
All ages/families, $3/person (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist with some of the nature center's animal ambassadors for a fun and educational presentation about the different ways animals communicate. Discover the many ways animals communicate with each other and find out just how smart they really are!
