Park Ridge Golf Course has earned a well-deserved reputation for being quite wet on days following significant rainfall. However, thanks to an expansive drainage project that has just been completed, that reputation is about to change!

While the course has undergone smaller drainage projects in the past, Palm Beach County added drainage to over 20 notoriously wet areas this summer. Golfers who have been playing South Florida’s most elevated course for years have immediately noticed a change to areas where they previously would have had to leave their carts on the path and walk to their ball. Now golfers take the cart all the way to their ball on the fairway. This project will also lead to improved course conditions year-round, as maintenance staff will now also be able to access these areas with equipment more regularly.

Fewer “cart path only” days will be encountered at Park Ridge moving forward, although there will still be a few days where carts will be limited to the path based on the amount of rain the course receives. Golfers can check the conditions for the day by calling 561-966-7044 and selecting option two for the golf shop. The golf shop is open from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through the summer months.

Also completed this month was a renovation/upgrade project to the Park Ridge clubhouse. While the clubhouse itself may look very similar, the building is brand new and a covered outside seating area was added to the grill room -- a great spot to enjoy a cold drink after a round.

Park Ridge Golf Course is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and is located at 9191 Lantana Road in Lake Worth. For additional information on Palm Beach County golf courses and upcoming events and programs, visit www.pbcgolf.com
