December 2017 Program Guide at Okeeheelee Nature Center

All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please call (561) 233-1400 or visit the nature center to make program reservations. Please make reservations at least 2 days in advance. Fees (if applicable) are due upon arrival to the program. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program. If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program you have made a reservation for, your spot will be given to a person on the waiting list.

REPTILE FEEDING
Wednesdays, 3:15 p.m. & Saturdays, 1:00 p.m.
Families/all ages, FREE (No reservations required)

OWL FEEDING
Thursdays, 4:00 p.m. 
Families/all ages, FREE (No reservations required)

ARCHERY FOR BEGINNERS
Saturday, December 9, 9:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Learn the basics of archery from safety to shooting and develop a great new skill during this two-hour program. Equipment is provided. Please wear close-toed shoes and bring water and sun protection.

ARCHERY – OPEN RANGE
Saturday, December 9, 1:00 p.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required) 
*Prerequisite: Must have completed the Archery for Beginners course at Okeeheelee Nature Center.
Here is the chance to practice those new-found archery skills! This expansion of the archery program will offer participants new challenges and allow them to work on precision and accuracy with a compound bow. Equipment is provided. Please wear close-toed shoes, and bring water and sun protection. Program is approximately an hour and a half.

CANOEING 101
Saturday, December 16, 10:00 a.m. 
Ages 10+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Learn the basics of how to safely canoe in this two-hour program. All equipment is provided. This outdoor adventure takes place in the south section of Okeeheelee Park. Please wear close-toed shoes and bring water and sun protection.

NATURE WALK
Saturday, December 23, 10:30 a.m.
Families/All ages, FREE (No reservations required)
Go on a FREE guided nature walk through the Pine Flatwoods forest and learn about the plants and animals that live right here in the local community.

DEER & RAPTOR WALK
Wednesday, December 27, 10:30 a.m. 
Ages 6+, $3/participant (Reservations required)
Go on a “behind the scenes” tour of the deer and raptor compounds for an opportunity to see the animals up close and learn about these unique creatures. Program length is approximately one-hour.

ARCHERY FOR BEGINNERS
Friday, December 29, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Learn the basics of archery from safety to shooting and develop a great new skill during this two-hour program. Equipment is provided. Please wear close-toed shoes, and bring water and sun protection.

RAPTOR CHAPTER
Saturday, December 30, 10:30 a.m. 
Families/all ages, $3/participant (Reservations required)
Learn about the birds of prey that live at the nature center. In this program, get an up close and personal experience with the birds of prey in an educational setting. Program length is approximately one-hour.
