All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please call 561-966-7000 or visit the nature center to make program reservations. Fees (if applicable) are due the day of the program by cash or check only. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program. If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program for which you have made a reservation, your spot may be given to a person on the waiting list.

SCIENCE FOR SENIORS: “THE LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE’S LIFE STORY”
Friday, March 9, 1:00 p.m.
Ages 50 and older, $5/person (RSVP required)
Presentation by: Phil Rathner, Green Cay Nature Center.
Go on an incredible photo journey detailing the life of the Loggerhead Shrike. Come and actually see why this diminutive bird is nicknamed the Butcher Bird.

BIRDS & BREAKFAST
Saturday, March 10, 9:00 a.m.
Ages 9 and older, $3/person (RSVP required, limit 10)
Start the day at Green Cay and enjoy coffee and refreshments before embarking on a one-hour birding tour with a naturalist.

ANIMAL KEEPER FOR A DAY
Wednesday, March 21, 10:00 a.m. 
Ages 8 and older, $10/participant (RSVP required, limit 8)
Ever wondered what it would be like to be an animal keeper? Work behind the scenes* with animal care staff and volunteers to find out! *Kids may get messy!

BIRDING FOR KIDS
Thursday, March 22, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 6 and older, $3/person (RSVP required, limit 20)
Come explore the world of birds during this fun, family-friendly program. See some of nature's most amazing examples of adaptations, hone observation skills and find out the easiest ways to identify birds through an interactive presentation full of games, activities and movements. Meet Green Cay's two avian ambassadors: Oliver the Eastern Screech Owl and Kilee the American Kestrel.

ARCHERY 101
Friday, March 23, 10:00 a.m. 
Ages 9 and older, $10/person (RSVP required, limit 10)
Join a USA Archery Certified Instructor to learn the basics of archery and develop a fun new skill! All equipment provided, please wear closed-toed shoes and bring water and sun protection for the outdoor portion. Note: Bows may be difficult to pull for smaller children.

SCIENCE FOR SENIORS: “SWIMMING WITH SEA MONSTERS: PREHISTORIC SEAS”
Friday, March 23, 1:00 p.m.
Ages 50 and older, $5/person (RSVP required)
Presentation by: Kayla Caldwell, Green Cay Nature Center.
From trilobites to sea turtles the size of cars, take a journey through time as this season’s Science for Seniors program wraps up with exploring what the early ocean looked like. As harsh conditions and extinction events drive evolution, the struggle for survival re-shaped the local residential fauna and flora time and time again – eventually creating the world seen today.

SURVIVALIST
Saturday, March 24, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 9 and older, $10/person (RSVP required, limit 10)
Learn skills like how to read the woods, tracking and orienteering during this two-hour, family-friendly outdoor adventure. Program includes a classroom component followed by an outdoor nature walk. Please wear close-toed shoes.

NIGHT STALKERS
Thursday, March 29, 6:00 p.m.
Ages 9 and older, $5/person (RSVP required, limit 20)
Join a naturalist on a night-time boardwalk tour looking at nature from the point of view of its nocturnal residents.

SOUTH FLORIDA’S ANIMALS
Friday, March 30, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 6 and older, $3/person (RSVP required, limit 20)
Join a naturalist to learn about habitats, adaptations and some of South Florida’s wildlife. Participants will learn about habitats and the four things all habitats need through an up-close encounter with several live animals native to the south Florida area.

STORY & CRAFT TIME 
Saturday, March 31, 10:00 a.m.
Suggested ages: 4 -10 years, $2/child (RSVP required, limit 10)
Kids will discover nature through crafts and stories about animals and other nature-related themes. This month’s theme is birds and bird houses!

WELLNESS PROGRAMS
TAI CHI & CHI KUNG
Four week sessions, Thursdays, 2:00 p.m. & 3:00 p.m. (call for start dates)
$45/each for four sessions, $35/Friends of Green Cay members, $15/drop in fee for one session
(RSVP required, limit 20)
Experience the benefits of these ancient Chinese systems of exercise and meditation. Improve flexibility, balance, muscle tone, energy and mental well-being. 
 
GENTLE YOGA
Four week sessions, Wednesdays, 2:00 p.m. (call for start dates)
$45/each for four sessions, $35/Friends of Green Cay members, $15/drop in fee for one session 
(RSVP required, limit 8)​
Find peace, tranquility, mindfulness, strength, balance, and flexibility with a refreshing afternoon yoga session. Please bring own yoga mat. Feel free to bring any props, blankets, etc.
