PBC Parks & Recreation Launches Public Service Announcement to Alleviate the Mental Health Crisis

Body

The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the launch of an animated Public Service Announcement (PSA) video that aims to improve the quality of life for people experiencing poor mental health.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Florida Department of Health, the number of residents reporting poor mental health days is steadily increasing.

"One of our department's core services is to facilitate health and wellness opportunities," said Parks and Recreation Director Eric Call. "There is a direct relationship between the quality of a person's wellbeing and the time one spends engaging in physical activity and interacting with nature."

With more than 80 county-operated parks and thousands of acres of parkland to explore, the PSA shows county residents "the prescription for healthy, happy living is closer than you think."

The PSA contains original artwork with animation and was entirely produced by the department's Office of Public Engagement. To view the PSA and to learn more about opportunities for healthy, happy living through the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department, visit www.pbcparks.com.
