June 2018 Program Guide at Daggerwing Nature Center

All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated.  Please call (561) 629-8760 or visit the nature center to make program reservations.  Fees (if applicable) are due the day of the program by cash or check only.  All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program.  If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program for which you have made a reservation, your spot may be given to a person on the waiting list. 

ANIMAL FEEDINGS
Daily, 3:15-3:30 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
3:15 p.m. is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about one of Daggerwing’s resident animals and then watch while it’s fed. Wednesday - Opossum; Thursday - Snake; Friday - Owl; Saturday - Alligator

MOTHER NATURE & ME: INCREDIBLE INSECTS
Tuesday, June 5, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/ guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

GEOCACHING BY BIKE
Saturday, June 9, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $5/participant (Reservations required)
Integrate modern technology with the exploration of nature! This BYOB* activity provides a chance for families to get outside and ride together while participating in the world-wide scavenger hunt called geocaching. Learn how to use a GPS handheld unit or bring a personal smartphone with the free Geocaching Intro app installed. *Bring your own bike

DAGGERWING VISITS THE LIBRARY: FROGS & TOADS
Tuesday, June 12, 3:30 p.m.
Ages 5+, FREE (Reservations required)
Enjoy a special program about frogs and toads, featuring a visit from the nature center’s resident animal ambassador, at the Glades Road Branch Library! Call the Glades Road Branch Library for details and RSVP at (561) 482-4554.

MOTHER NATURE & ME: STORMY WEATHER
Tuesday, June 19, 10:30 a.m.

RADICAL REPTILES
Saturday, June 23, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 5+, $3/participant (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist for a family-friendly program focusing on the amazing world of reptiles! Learn about these diverse scaly creatures and meet some resident reptiles up close and personal.

ANIMAL ENRICHMENT WORKSHOP
Saturday, June 30, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $3/participant (Reservations required)
Watching TV, riding a bike, reading and eating ice cream are all activities people do for fun. But what does an animal like to do for fun? Learn how Daggerwing Nature Center cares for the animals by providing “enrichment” in their habitats. Learn what enrichment is and help create some hands-on enrichment items that will be provided to the animals for their enjoyment!
