October 2018 Program Guide at Daggerwing Nature Center

All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please call (561) 629-8760 or visit the nature center to make program reservations. Fees (if applicable) are due the day of the program by cash or check only.  All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program. If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program for which you have made a reservation, your spot may be given to a person on the waiting list. 

ANIMAL FEEDINGS
Daily, 3:15-3:30 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
3:15 p.m. is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about one of Daggerwing’s resident animals and then watch while it’s fed. Wednesday - Opossum; Thursday - Snake; Friday - Owl; Saturday - Alligator

MOTHER NATURE & ME: OUTDOOR EXPLORERS
Tuesday, October 2, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

CREEPY CREATURES
Saturday, October 6, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 5+, $3/participant (Reservations required)
Meet live animals that many consider creepy! Learn why these creatures are misunderstood and how their survival characteristics make them special.

DAGGERWING VISITS THE LIBRARY: OWLS
Tuesday, October 9, 3:30 p.m.
Ages 5+, FREE (Reservations required)
Enjoy a special program about owls, featuring a visit from the nature center’s resident animal ambassadors, at the Glades Road Branch Library! Call the Glades Road Branch Library for details and RSVP at (561) 482-4554.

MOTHER NATURE & ME: NIGHT CREATURES
Tuesday, October 16, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

FISHING FUN
Friday, October 19, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Learn the basics of freshwater fishing and practice learned skills. Class includes fishing pole basics, casting tips, and freshwater fish identification. All fishing supplies are provided. Please bring a water bottle, sun protection, and closed-toed shoes that can get wet/muddy.

SPECIAL EVENT: HOOT ‘N’ HOWL
Friday, October 26, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
Bring the kids in costume and enjoy not-so-scary Halloween games and crafts* while learning about nocturnal creatures such as owls, toads, snakes and spiders! Remember to bring a flashlight and bug spray to continue the adventure outside along the boardwalk at night! *While supplies last.
