Palm Beach County Department of Public Safety Division of Animal Care and Control (PBCACC) is excited to introduce a series of fostering programs designed to empower the community to make a lifesaving impact on animals in need. With their Foster2Rescue, Foster2Adopt, Foster2Petpals, and Foster2Family programs, community members can play a vital role in providing animals with a brighter future. This initiative marks the shelter's commitment to kick start a new era in animal welfare through Community-Supported Sheltering, an approach that actively engages local residents and volunteers in the sheltering process. By opening their homes to these animals temporarily, community members contribute to reducing shelter overcrowding, ensuring a more loving and supportive environment for the animals, and greatly improving their overall well-being while they await their forever homes.

Foster2Rescue: Short-Term Commitment, Long-Term Impact
For those seeking a short-term commitment, the Foster2Rescue program allows individuals to foster select dogs for 2-6 weeks, so they can be rescued by Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League and join their adoption program. PBCACC provides all the essential pet supplies at no cost. Prospective foster parents can visit in person to meet the select dogs and complete the foster application.

Foster2Adopt: The Perfect Match
For individuals interested in adoption but wanting to ensure the perfect fit for their family, the Foster2Adopt program is the answer. It allows individuals to foster a pet for up to 3 weeks before officially adopting. Prospective adopters can visit in person to meet all the adoptable dogs and complete the adoption application. They can explore the SNAP website to view all available dogs.

Foster2Petpals: Nourish and Love
To help the animals in the community on their journey to health and adoption, the Foster2Petpals program allows individuals to provide nourishment and love to underweight kittens or dogs experiencing kennel cough (CIRD) symptoms until they are eligible for adoption. PBCACC provides all the essentials pet supplies at no cost. Foster2Petpals application can be completed here.

Foster2Family: Be Their Bridge
To become an extension of the shelter and alleviate stress for pets, the Foster2Family program allows individuals to foster a pet in the adoption program, helping them find their forever family. Foster parents can network their foster pet on social media and share their story with friends and family to provide a stress-free environment while getting their foster pet adopted. Those interested can visit in person to meet the dogs and complete the foster application. They can also view available dogs for the Foster2Family program on the SNAP website. All adoptable dogs are eligible for the Foster2Family program. PBCACC provides all the essentials pet supplies at no cost.

Community members are invited to join PBCACC in making a positive impact on the lives of animals in need. For more information on the fostering programs, please visit https://discover.pbcgov.org/publicsafety/animalcare/Pages/foster.aspx or stop by the shelter located at 7100 Belvedere Road in West Palm Beach, just west of the Florida Turnpike. Together, the community can create brighter tomorrows for their community pets. Animal viewing hours are Monday through Friday, noon to 6 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
