March 2019 Program Guide at Daggerwing Nature Center

All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated.  Please call (561) 629-8760 or visit the nature center to make program reservations.  Fees (if applicable) are due the day of the program by cash or check only.  All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program.  If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program for which you have made a reservation, your spot may be given to a person on the waiting list. 

ANIMAL FEEDINGS
Daily, 3:15-3:30 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
3:15 p.m. is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about one of Daggerwing’s resident animals and then watch while it’s fed. Wednesday - Opossum; Thursday - Snake; Friday - Owl; Saturday - Alligator

MOTHER NATURE & ME: FISHY FRIENDS
Tuesday, March 5, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

NIGHT HIKE
Friday, March 8, 6:30 p.m.
Ages 5+, $5/participant (Reservations required)
Ever wondered what Daggerwing’s boardwalk would be like after dark? Join a naturalist on a nighttime boardwalk tour looking at nature from the point of view of its nocturnal residents.

DAGGERWING VISITS THE LIBRARY: SNAKES
Tuesday, March 12, 3:30 p.m.
Ages 8+, FREE (Reservations required)
Enjoy a special program featuring a visit from some of the nature center’s resident animal ambassadors, at the West Boca Branch Library! Call the West Boca Branch Library for details and RSVP at (561) 470-1600.

MOTHER NATURE & ME: TURTLE TIME
Tuesday, March 19, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

ANIMAL KEEPER FOR A DAY
Thursday, March 21, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Animal keepers have the coolest job! Work behind the scenes with animal care staff and volunteers to feed diets, clean exhibits, and provide enrichments to the animals at the nature center. Learn what it takes to care for these special animal ambassadors.

GEOCACHING BY BIKE
Saturday, March 23, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $5/participant (Reservations required)
Integrate modern technology with the exploration of nature! This BYOB* activity provides a chance for families to get outside and ride together while participating in the world-wide scavenger hunt called geocaching. Learn how to use a GPS handheld unit or bring a personal smartphone. *Bring your own bike

DIP NETTING
Saturday, March 30, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Find out what creatures naturally live in the water of the wetlands! Collect tiny pond animals outside and then observe those findings using magnifying glasses and microscopes inside. Please wear closed-toe shoes that can get wet/dirty.

WELLNESS PROGRAMS
RESTORATIVE YOGA
Thursdays, 1:30 p.m. (Call for start dates)
$45 for four sessions, $35 for Friends of Daggerwing members, or $15 for one session (Reservations required)
Yoga can help one find peace, tranquility, mindfulness, strength, balance, and flexibility. All equipment is provided.
