Pushing the boundaries between public art and public space, SKYroom is an art place; an outdoor art environment that celebrates the spirit of Palm Beach County and its iconic sunlight. A dynamic sculptural screen, gates, and billowy hedge walls frame the sky and seclude guests from bustling surroundings of downtown West Palm Beach.
As guests meander the plaza paver’s transects, they follow the sun’s journey from solstice to equinox. Seating niches are nestled among colorful, multi-textured plant-scapes which create a lush subtropical atmosphere.
Through data analysis and visualization of local sun cycles, the sculptural screen and gate patterns cast rhythmic patterns of sunlight and shadow on the ground throughout the day. In evening, the illuminated space immerses guests in a kaleidoscope of ambient light.
