PBC Parks to Host Beach Cleanup Event on National Skip the Straw Day

Body

What: In an effort to bring attention to the issue of non-degradable litter often found on Palm Beach County beaches, Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation will host a public beach cleanup event on National Skip the Straw Day. The unofficial holiday encourages people to recognize the harmful effects of non-degradable plastic commonly known to contaminate the ocean and harm marine life. Volunteers will remove trash and debris from Ocean Inlet Park, which will be weighed to create a debris report. Every volunteer will receive a bag containing a t-shirt, water, snacks & environmental literature. Pickers, gloves and garbage bags will be supplied.
