Osprey Point Golf Course Nominated as World’s Best Eco Friendly Golf Facility

Body

Osprey Point Golf Course continues to be recognized for their environmental efforts as the Palm Beach County owned facility was one of 15 golf courses in the world to be nominated as the World’s Best Eco Friendly Golf Facility by the World Golf Awards. Osprey Point will seek to win this award for the second time, having won in 2016.

Long known for its environmentally friendly practices, Osprey Point became just the second golf course in the United States and fifth in the world to earn the coveted Certified Classic Sanctuary distinction from Audubon International in 2011. In 2015, Audubon International re-certified the facility, making it the first golf course in the nation to earn re-certification.

The Classic Sanctuary certification recognizes that Osprey Point maintains a wide variety of environmental practices, from limits and even reduction of chemical use to water conservation and water quality management. Additionally, the golf course staff actively works to maintain wildlife habitat around the facility and educates golfers and the general public on environmentally friendly maintenance practices.

Also nominated as the World’s Best Eco Friendly Golf Facility were Crystal Springs Golf Course in Hamburg, N.J., Ekerum Resort Oland in Borgholm, Sweden, Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Golfbaan Stippelberg in Bakel, Netherlands, No. 2 at Pinehurst in Pinehurst, N.C., the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Kiawah Island, S.C., Ocean Course at Pelican Hill in Newport Coast, Calif., Karma Lakelands in India, Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore, Mission Hills Golf Club in China, Ben Brown’s Course at The Ranch at Laguna Beach in Laguna, Calif. and The Gleneagles in Perthshire, Scotland.

The World Golf Awards serve to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism around the world. The winner of the 2019 World’s Best Eco Friendly Golf Facility is based on a vote made by professionals working within the golf industry as well as votes cast by the general public.
