April 2019 Program Guide at Okeeheelee Nature Center

All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please call (561) 233-1400 or visit the nature center to make program reservations. Please make reservations at least two days in advance. Fees (if applicable) are due upon arrival to the program by form of cash or check. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program. If you are more than five minutes late to a program you have made a reservation for, your spot will be given to a person on the waiting list.

REPTILE FEEDING
Wednesdays, 3:30 p.m. & Saturdays, 1:00 p.m.
Families/all ages, FREE (No reservations required)

OWL FEEDING
Thursdays, 3:30 p.m. 
Families/all ages, FREE (No reservations required)

SNAKE FEEDING
Fridays, 3:30 p.m.
Families/all ages, FREE (No reservations required)

ARCHERY FOR BEGINNERS
Saturday, April 6, 9:00 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Learn the basics of archery from safety to shooting and develop a great new skill during this two-hour program. Equipment is provided. 
 
ARCHERY OPEN RANGE
Saturday, April 6, 11:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
**Prerequisite: Must have completed Archery for Beginners**
Here is the chance to practice those new-found archery skills! This practice session allows participants to work on precision and accuracy with a compound bow. Equipment is provided.

YOGA IN NATURE
Saturday, April 13, 9:00 a.m.
Ages 12+, $15/participant (Reservations required)
Enjoy a 60-minute slow yoga class outdoors while learning about nature! Each month, the program will focus on a different animal or habitat theme. An optional live animal encounter will follow each class. Classes are taught by a nature center naturalist, who is also a certified yoga instructor.
 
SPECIAL EVENT: EARTH DAY 
Saturday, April 13, 10:00 a.m. 
All ages, FREE (No reservations required)
One of the most important milestones in conservation history is Earth Day! Join Okeeheelee Nature Center for a fabulous and family friendly event that is FREE to the public. From eco-friendly crafts and activities to food and live animal presentations, come and explore all the nature center has to offer since its opening 27 years ago.  

JUNIOR NATURALIST: ECO-HELPERS
Saturday, April 20, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 8-12, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Discover new ways to live sustainably with fun engaging activities and take home eco-crafts. The future of the environment relies on the next generation to protect and conserve all it has to offer.  
 
NATURE WALK
Saturday, April 27, 10:30 a.m.
Families/all ages, FREE (No reservations required)
Go on a FREE guided nature walk through the pine flatwoods ecosystem and learn about the plants and animals that live right here in the local community.
