Who: The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Josh’s Benches for Awareness, a 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to raising awareness of mental health issues and promoting suitable resources to remove the negative stigma surrounding the receiving of help.
What: Officials will unveil a bright yellow memorial bench aimed at achieving awareness of the suicide prevention and mental health resources available in the community for individuals struggling with mental health issues. The unveiling will take place at the Recreation Center’s annual Bike Rodeo event, which attracts hundreds of people who take advantage of recreational opportunities and resources. Health is a primary pillar of Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation and parks are often spaces for people to turn to in times of need or to simply escape daily stressors. The Josh’s Bench will serve as a spot to rest or chat with someone while getting valuable resource information.
