PBC Parks Hosting Mascot Naming Contest for Students

Body

Now thru May 31, the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Mascot Naming Contest to give students in Palm Beach County the chance to name the department’s new squirrel mascot. The new mascot is intended to encourage individuals under 18 to live happier, healthier lives by using parks and recreational facilities in their area.

The contest is open to Palm Beach County residents in grades K-12. Names should be submitted by email to pbcparks@pbcgov.org or on PBC Parks Facebook or Twitter pages, @pbcparks. Only one name per person will be accepted. The student who provides the winning name will be awarded a US Savings Bond in the amount of $25.00 and 10 passes to either Calypso Bay or Coconut Cove Waterpark for use during the 2019 season.

The winning name, along with the department’s new squirrel mascot, will be revealed to the public at the 12th annual Fourth of July celebration at Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park on July 4, 2019.

The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department, recognized nationally for excellence in park and recreation management, operates more than 110 parks and recreational facilities and provides organized recreational programs and services for people of all ages and abilities.
