June 2019 Program Guide at Riverbend Park

All programs are by reservation only. Please call (561) 741-1359 to make program reservations. Payment (cash or check) is due the day of program. Programs require a minimum number registered participants. For every program, participants/guardians are required to sign a Program Participation Form. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Please register in advance by 2:00 p.m. the day before. All programs run approximately 90 minutes depending upon experience level of participants. Please bring drinking water, sunscreen, and insect repellant to each program. 

NATURALIST WALKS
Saturdays, 8:00 a.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist for a guided walk exploring the trails of Riverbend Park. It’s a great way to become familiar with the plant and animal communities, trails and historic events of the park. 

NRPA 2019 FAMILY HEALTH & FITNESS DAY CHALLENGE
Saturday, June 8, 10:00 a.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations required)
Enjoy a free guided 2-mile walking tour through the trails at Riverbend Park. Participants will walk at a moderate pace, stopping along the way to observe and discuss the natural resources of the park. The NRPA Jumping Jack Challenge will take place after the walk at 12 noon.

ARCHERY
Wednesday, June 12, 9:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Join USA Archery and N.F.A.A. certified staff to learn about archery! This exciting program teaches archery safety and how to properly use the equipment before getting to practice on the range. Equipment is provided. Note: Bows may be difficult to pull for smaller children.

NIGHT HIKE
Friday, June 14, 6:30 p.m.
Ages 8+, $5/person (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist on a walk and observe the change from diurnal to nocturnal in the park. Good walking shoes and bug spray are recommended.

ARCHERY
Saturday, June 15, 4:00 p.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)

WETLANDS DIP NETTING
Thursday, June 20, 9:30 a.m.
All ages, $5/person (Reservations required)
Discover life below the water surface, while becoming acquainted with the role of the wetlands in Riverbend Park. Catch and observe aquatic organisms. Close-toed shoes are required. A set of clothes to change into after the program is suggested.

GUIDED PADDLE
Saturday, June 22, 9:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Take a guided tour of Riverbend’s waterways with a naturalist who will point out many of the native plants and animals that can be found in the park as well as some of its amazing history. Canoes are provided with the fee. You can also bring your own or rent a kayak from our vendor, Jupiter Outdoor Center, 561-746-7053.

FISHING FUN
Saturday, June 29, 9:30 a.m. 
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Learn basic fishing techniques and safety while fishing for the big one! Proper outdoor clothing, water, sunblock and sunglasses are recommended. Fishing gear is provided.
