Friends of Daggerwing Nature Center (FOD) awarded the second annual Scott Cowan Memorial Scholarship to Muskaan Tulsyani.  Muskaan, a 2019 International Baccalaureate graduate of Atlantic Community High School, was presented the $500 award at the Daggerwing Nature Center Volunteer Appreciation Night event on Friday, May 31. She will enter the University of Florida this fall, majoring in biochemistry.

Muskaan is an outstanding, multi-faceted student, and avid volunteer. Besides serving as a greeter and special event volunteer at Daggerwing Nature Center, she volunteers at the West Boca Raton public library and with Personal Ponies Therapy in West Boca. She is the past president of her high school’s Science National Honor Society, and an award-winning member of the Health Occupations Students of America and Future Business Leaders of America. FOD is delighted to recognize Muskaan and wish her success in her future academic and personal pursuits.

Initiated in 2017 by the Cowan family, Friends of Daggerwing Nature Center established the scholarship in 2018 to recognize outstanding young volunteers at the nature center and promote their future environmental education goals. “All of the applicants were outstanding students and had remarkable personal qualities. We hope to continue and expand our recognition of Daggerwing volunteers who personify the qualities that will enable them to make a difference in the way we protect and conserve the earth,” said Edith Cowan, President of FOD, and mother of Scott Cowan.
