October 2019 Program Guide at Riverbend Park

All programs are by reservation only. Please visit www.pbcparks.com​ to make program reservations. Under “Online Services” click on Register/Pay for Program. Login with your username and password. New users must create a household account online, (follow online instructions under “Login”). For every program, participants/guardians are required to sign a Program Participation Form. All children must be accompanied by an adult. All programs run approximately 90 minutes depending upon experience level of participants. Please bring drinking water, sunscreen, and insect repellent to each program. For questions or more information, please contact Riverbend Park at 561-741-1359.

NATURALIST WALKS
Saturdays, 8:00 a.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist for a guided walk exploring the trails of Riverbend Park. It’s a great way to become familiar with the plant and animal communities, trails and historic events of the park. 

ARCHERY 
Saturday, October 5, 9:30 a.m. & 12:00 p.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Join USA Archery and N.F.A.A. certified staff to learn about archery! This exciting program teaches archery safety and how to properly use the equipment before getting to practice on the range. Equipment is provided. Note: Bows may be difficult to pull for smaller children.

FULL MOON BIKE RIDE
Friday, October 11, 6:30 p.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist on a moonlit, nighttime bike ride. See the park after hours and look at nature from the point of view of its nocturnal residents. Appropriate safety gear and water is required. Bring your own bike or rent from the park vendor, Jupiter Outdoor Center, 561-746-7053. 

GUIDED PADDLE                                                                                              
Saturday, October 12, 9:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Take a guided tour of Riverbend’s waterways with a naturalist who will point out many of the native plants and animals that can be found in the park, as well as some of its amazing history. Canoes are provided with the fee. If a kayak is preferred, bring your own or rent a kayak from the park vendor, Jupiter Outdoor Center, 561-746-7053.

GUIDED PEDAL & ANIMAL WATCH
Saturday, October 19, 9:30 a.m.
All ages, $5/person (Reservations required)
Discover the trails of Riverbend with a naturalist guiding the way. This tour is a leisurely pedal of the trails. Enjoy looking for wildlife and stopping occasionally at points of interest.

NIGHT HIKE
Friday, October 25, 6:30 p.m.
Ages 8+, $5/person (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist on a walk and observe the change from diurnal to nocturnal in the park. Good walking shoes and bug spray are recommended.

SAWMILL SATURDAY
Saturday, October 26, 9:00 a.m. 
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
Stop by the sawmill on the park’s recreated farmstead and visit with the sawyers as they cut and plane logs into boards. Experience “turn of the century” cutting edge technology.​

HISTORY IN THE PARK

All ages, FREE (Reservations not required) 
Join non-profit group the Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationists for a presentation by guest speaker Tom Odem on History of Florida Wars.​ Docents will conduct a walking tour of the battlefield at Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park (adjacent to Riverbend Park) following the presentation.
