November 2019 Program Guide at Riverbend Park

All programs are by reservation only. Please visit www.pbcparks.com to make program reservations. Under “Online Services” click on Register/Pay for Program. Login with your username and password. New users must create a household account online, (follow online instructions under “Login”). For every program, participants/guardians are required to sign a Program Participation Form. All children must be accompanied by an adult. All programs run approximately 90 minutes depending upon experience level of participants. Please bring drinking water, sunscreen, and insect repellent to each program. For questions or more information, please contact Riverbend Park at 561-741-1359.

NATURALIST WALKS
Saturdays, 8:00 a.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist for a guided walk exploring the trails of Riverbend Park. It’s a great way to become familiar with the plant and animal communities, trails and historic events of the park. 

SPECIAL EVENT: PIONEER FAMILY FARMSTEAD DAY
Saturday, November 2, 9:00 a.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
Pioneer Family Farmstead Day will provide visitors an opportunity to experience old-time Florida circa late 1800s through the early 1900s. Families can see how the pioneers lived and how technology changed their lives. Catch a ride on Wind Chase Farm’s horse drawn wagon, visit the corral to see riding techniques, watch sugar cane from pressing to boiling, visit the garden, animal pens and more!

FULL MOON BIKE RIDE
Friday, November 8, 6:30 p.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist on a moonlit, nighttime bike ride. See the park after hours and look at nature from the point of view of its nocturnal residents. Appropriate safety gear and water is required. Bring your own bike or rent from the park vendor, Jupiter Outdoor Center, 561-746-7053. 

GUIDED PADDLE                                                                                              
Saturday, November 9, 9:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Take a guided tour of Riverbend’s waterways with a naturalist who will point out many of the native plants and animals that can be found in the park, as well as some of its amazing history. Canoes are provided with the fee. If a kayak is preferred, bring your own or rent a kayak from the park vendor, Jupiter Outdoor Center, 561-746-7053.

GUIDED PEDAL & ANIMAL WATCH
Saturday, November 16, 9:30 a.m.
All ages, $5/person (Reservations required)
Discover the trails of Riverbend with a naturalist guiding the way. This tour is a leisurely pedal of the trails. Enjoy looking for wildlife and stopping occasionally at points of interest.

HISTORY IN THE PARK                                                                                
Saturday, November 16, 10:00 a.m. 
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required) 
Join non-profit group the Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationists for a presentation by guest speaker Steve Carr on the Ashley Gang. Docents will conduct a walking tour of the battlefield at Loxahatchee River Battlefield Park (adjacent to Riverbend Park) following the presentation.

NIGHT HIKE
Friday, November 22, 6:30 p.m.
Ages 8+, $5/person (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist on a walk and observe the change from diurnal to nocturnal in the park. Good walking shoes and bug spray are recommended.

ORIENTEERING
Saturday, November 23, 9:30 a.m. 
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required) 
Lost in the park? This program will cover the basic parts, terms and usage of a compass so one can take a bearing and walk a course. Good walking shoes are recommended.

ARCHERY 
Saturday, November 30, 9:30 a.m. & 12:00 p.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Join USA Archery and N.F.A.A. certified staff to learn about archery! This exciting program teaches archery safety and how to properly use the equipment before getting to practice on the range. Equipment is provided. Note: Bows may be difficult to pull for smaller children.
