At the Board of County Commissioners workshop on Aug. 31, 2021, Commissioner Gregg K. Weiss presented a
proclamation in recognition of the Palm Beach County Community Remembrance Project Coalition.
In collaboration with the Equal Justice Initiative, the coalition seeks to honor two Palm Beach County
racial terror lynching victims (Mr. Henry Simmons and Mr. Samuel Nelson) through a comprehensive
education and community engagement plan. Additionally, it aims to bring a replica of the monument
dedicated to the victims, currently located at the National Memorial for Peace and Justice in
Montgomery, Alabama, home to Palm Beach County.
