The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation (PBC Parks) was selected by Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) as the winner of the 2020 American Health+Wellness Design Awards for its Spring/Summer 2020 issue of Leisure Times Magazine.

Leisure Times Magazine is a quarterly magazine that launched in January 2019, and is produced in-house by PBC Parks. The magazine features articles written by PBC Parks staff, covering a variety of park-related topics, including department news, popular park destinations, park patron stories, and more. The magazine is designed in-house by Graphic Designer, Kimberly Krieger. Leisure Times Magazine is unique in that it provides a visually appealing outlet for Palm Beach County residents and visitors to receive valuable park- and department-related information.

Leisure Times Magazine has been so popular and successful in delivering great features, stories and articles of interest related to Parks and Recreation, I’m thrilled that our Public Engagement Team is being recognized for the great work they do designing and producing this award-winning journal,” said Eric Call, PBC Parks Director.

For five decades, GDUSA has presented competitions that focus on areas of growth and opportunity for graphic design. The 2020 awards focus on health and wellness. This competition takes in the big picture of healthcare: traditional medical industries; mental health and counseling; healthy lifestyles; and public health and community education initiatives. This year ended with a record 2,500+ entries; only the top 10 percent were selected as winners. GDUSA has been a business-to-business information source for graphic design professionals since 1963 and covers news, people, project trends, technology, products and services and hosts several national design competitions.

The Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department, recognized nationally for excellence in park and recreation management, operates more than 110 parks and recreational facilities and provides organized recreational programs and services for people of all ages and abilities.
