October 2016 Program Guide at Daggerwing Nature Center

All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please call (561) 629-8760 or visit the nature center to make program reservations. Fees (if applicable) are due the day of the program by cash or check only. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program. If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program for which you have made a reservation, your spot may be given to a person on the waiting list. 

ANIMAL FEEDINGS
Daily, 3:15-3:30 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
3:15 p.m. is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about one of Daggerwing’s resident animals and then watch while it’s fed. Wednesday - Alligator; Thursday - Snake; Friday - Skunk; Saturday - Alligator

MOTHER NATURE & ME: SPIDERS ARE SPECIAL
Tuesday, October 4, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/ guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

BEGINNER BIRDING
Saturday, October 8, 10:30 a.m.
All Ages, $3/participant (Reservations required)
Learn about the exciting hobby of bird watching. Join a naturalist for a family-friendly program that will teach how to use binoculars and field guides. After, get a chance to put those skills to use on the boardwalk. Feel free to bring your own binoculars.

INTRO TO ARCHERY
Wednesday, October 12, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Join USA Archery and N.F.A.A. certified staff and learn about the sport of archery. This exciting program teaches archery safety and how to properly use the equipment before getting to practice on the range.

MOTHER NATURE & ME: BEAUTIFUL BATS
Tuesday, October 18, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/ guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)

DAGGERWING VISITS THE LIBRARY: SNAKES
Tuesday, October 25, 3:30 p.m.
Ages 5-10, FREE (Reservations required)
Enjoy a special program about snakes featuring a visit from one of the nature center’s resident animal ambassadors, at the Glades Road Branch Library! Call the Glades Road Branch Library for details and to RSVP at (561) 482-4554.

HOOT ‘N’ HOWL
Friday, October 28, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
Bring the kids in costume to enjoy not-so-scary Halloween games and crafts while learning about creatures of the night such as bats, owls, snakes and spiders! Remember a flashlight and bug spray to continue the adventure by exploring the boardwalk at night!
