March 2021 Program Guide at Riverbend Park

All programs are by online reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please register online at www.pbcparks.com; under “Online Services” click on Register/Pay for Program. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form and COVID-19 Waiver before each program. Programs will adhere to all state, county orders and CDC guidelines. All children must be accompanied by an adult. All programs run approximately 90 minutes depending upon experience level of participants. Please bring drinking water, sunscreen, and insect repellent to each program. For questions or more information, please contact Riverbend Park at 561-741-1359.

NATURALIST WALKS
Thursdays, 9:00 a.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations required)
Join naturalists each week for a guided walk exploring the trails of Riverbend Park. It’s a great way to become familiar with the plant and animal communities, trails and historic events of the park. 

ARCHERY 
Saturday, March 6, 9:30 a.m. & 12:00 p.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Join USA Archery and N.F.A.A. certified staff to learn about archery! This exciting program teaches archery safety and how to properly use the equipment before getting to practice on the range. Equipment is provided. Note: Bows may be difficult to pull for smaller children.

SAWMILL SATURDAY
Saturday, March 13, 9:00 a.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
Stop by the sawmill on the park’s recreated farmstead and visit with the sawyers as they cut and plane logs into boards. Experience “turn of the century” cutting-edge technology.

FISHING FUN
Saturday, March 13, 9:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Learn basic fishing techniques and safety while fishing for the big one! Proper outdoor clothing, water, sunblock and sunglasses are recommended. Fishing gear is provided.

HISTORY IN THE PARK
Saturday, March 13, 10:00 a.m. 
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required) 
Join non-profit group the Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationists for a presentation by a guest speaker. Docents will conduct a walking tour of the battlefield following the presentation.

Tuesday, March 16, 9:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)

REPTILES AND AMPHIBIANS
Thursday, March 18, 10:30 a.m.
All ages, $5/person (Reservations required)     
This program will take you through the differences between reptiles and amphibians and discuss their similarities and differences. Local and invasive species will be discussed as well as venomous and  
non-venomous. Please wear close-toed shoes.

BIRDING BASICS
Saturday, March 20, 9:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $5/person (Reservations required)
Come join us for a guided birding walk in the park as we learn about the amazing adaptations of birds and the many roles they play in the environment. Participants will be provided with bird guidebooks and binoculars as we go over how to use them to your greatest advantage. All equipment will be issued to each participant prior to the walk. 

NIGHT HIKE
Friday, March 26, 6:30 p.m.
Ages 8+, $5/person (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist on a walk and observe the change from diurnal to nocturnal in the park. Good walking shoes and bug spray are recommended.

WETLANDS DIP NETTING
Saturday, March 27, 9:30 a.m.
All ages, $5/person (Reservations required)
This program will educate the public about the different types of wetlands and how they are important to both animals and humans, while providing an outdoor experience for visitors to collect and observe various animals. Instructions from staff will teach proper catch and release of the organisms.
