May 2021 Program Guide at Riverbend Park

All programs are by online reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please register online at www.pbcparks.com; under “Online Services” click on Register/Pay for Program or visit the park office to register and make payment. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form and COVID-19 Waiver before each program. All children must be accompanied by an adult. All programs run approximately 90 minutes depending upon experience level of participants. Please bring drinking water, sunscreen, and insect repellent to each program. NATURALIST WALKS
Thursdays, 9:00 a.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations required)
Join naturalists each week for a guided walk exploring the trails of Riverbend Park. It’s a great way to become familiar with the plant and animal communities, trails and historic events of the park. 

BATTLEFIELD TOURS
Saturdays, 10:00 a.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations required)
Join a Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationist docent on a battlefield tour and learn of the Second Seminole War battles that occurred here.

ARCHERY 
Saturday, May 1, 9:30 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Join USA Archery and N.F.A.A. certified staff to learn about archery! This exciting program teaches archery safety and how to properly use the equipment before getting to practice on the range. Equipment is provided. Note: Bows may be difficult to pull for smaller children.

NIGHT HIKE
Friday, May 7, 7:00 p.m.
Ages 8+, $5/person (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist on a walk and observe the change from diurnal to nocturnal in the park. Good walking shoes and bug spray are recommended.

REPTILES AND AMPHIBIANS
Saturday, May 8, 9:30 a.m.
All ages, $5/person (Reservations required)     
This program will take you through the differences between reptiles and amphibians and discuss their similarities. Local and invasive species will be discussed as well as venomous and nonvenomous. Please wear close-toed shoes.

KIDS DAY
Saturday, May 15, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
Come out and experience “Old Florida” and a day of activities on our farmstead. Sawmill demonstrations, archery, fishing, and animal encounters are all part of the fun.

HISTORY IN THE PARK
Saturday, May 15, 10:00 a.m. 
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required) 
Join our non-profit group, the Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationists, for a presentation by a guest speaker. Docents will conduct a walking tour of the battlefield following the presentation.

BIRDING BASICS
Saturday, May 29, 9:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $5/person (Reservations required)
Join us for a guided birding walk in the park as we learn about the amazing adaptations of birds and the many roles they play in the environment. Participants will be provided with bird guidebooks and binoculars as we go over how to use them to your greatest advantage.
