All programs are by reservation only.  Fee programs require payment at the time of registration/reservation. You can register and pay online at www.pbcparks.com. Please select “Online Services”, choose “Register/Pay for Program” from the drop-down menu, click the “Nature” icon, and then search for the program by name. You must login or create a new household account before registering. 

GOPHER TORTOISE DAY
Saturday, April 9, 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
Families/all ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
Join us to celebrate our preserve’s most unique inhabitant—the gopher tortoise! We will have crafts, displays, and presentations all focused on this threatened species and the important role they play in the environment. Enjoy story time for young children, tortoise habitat hikes with ONC naturalists and volunteers, and meet-and-greets with our ambassador tortoise “Sparky.” Participation is free thanks to a grant from the Gopher Tortoise Council and Friends of Okeeheelee Nature Center. 

ONC VISITS THE LIBRARY: OPOSSUMS
Tuesday, April 12, 3:30-4:00 p.m.
Ages 5+, FREE (Pre-registration is required**)
Join an ONC Naturalists and Henry, one of ONC’s animal ambassadors- a Virginia Opossum! You will get to meet Henry and an additional surprise animal guest up close and personal. This program brings PBC Parks and Recreation and the PBC Library System together for a collaborative effort in environmental education. **Call the Main Branch Library for details and RSVP at (561) 233-2600 or visit www.pbclibrary.org to pre-register.

Ages 8+, $10/person (Reservations required)
Learn the basics of archery from safety to shooting and develop a great new skill. All equipment is provided. Space is limited.

ONC BEHIND THE SCENES
Tuesday, April 19, 3:00-4:00 p.m. 
Families/all ages, $3/person (Reservations required)
Take a behind the scenes tour to see where our outdoor animals live when they are not “working”. You will get to feed our white-tailed deer and meet several other animals up-close while learning all about them! 

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION
Saturday, April 30, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

One of the most important milestones in conservation history is Earth Day! Join Okeeheelee Nature Center for a fabulous and family friendly event that is FREE to the public. From eco-friendly crafts and activities to food and live animal presentations, come and explore all the nature center has to offer since its opening 30 years ago.
