County Operations to Close on Saturday Due to Tropical Storm Conditions

Body

Due to the expected tropical storm force winds and heavy rains and flooding, Palm Beach County offices and facilities will be closed Saturday, June 4. These include facilities such as libraries, parks and beaches. At this time, no evacuation orders or opening of emergency shelters are anticipated. Palm Tran, Palm Tran Connection and Go Glades services will not operate on Saturday but will expect to resume on Sunday.

Palm Beach County is currently under tropical storm, flood and high-surf warnings. The National Weather Service says there is a potential for major flooding from heavy rain. The highest risk of flooding is from predawn through early tomorrow afternoon. Gusts/squalls to tropical storm force wind will become more frequent tonight and continue through much of Saturday. Short periods of sustained tropical storm force winds are possible tonight through Saturday morning. Tornados are possible tonight into Saturday.

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is currently at a Level 3, which is enhanced monitoring and Emergency Management staff will stay in contact with the National Weather Service and make changes as conditions require.

Residents should remain cautious after the storm passes as emergency response crews will be out on the roads to survey any damage and effect repairs.
