September 2022 Program Guide at Riverbend Park

All programs are by online reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please register online at www.pbcparks.com; under “Online Services” click on Register/Pay for Program, or visit the office to register and make payment. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form  before each program. All children must be accompanied by an adult. All programs run approximately 90 minutes depending upon experience level of participants. Please bring drinking water, sunscreen, and insect repellent to each program. NATURALIST WALKS
Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. 
All ages, FREE (Reservations required)
Join naturalists each week for a 1-hour guided walk exploring the trails of Riverbend Park. It’s a great way to become familiar with the plant and animal communities, trails and historic events of the park. Call to 561-741-1359 reserve.

BATTLEFIELD TOURS
Saturdays, 10:00 a.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations required)
Join a Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationist docent on a battlefield tour and learn of the Second Seminole War battles that occurred here.

ORIENTEERING
Saturday, September 3, 9:30 a.m. 
Ages 10+, $10/participant (Reservations required) 
Lost in the park? This program will cover the basic parts, terms and usage of a compass so one can take a bearing and walk a course. Good walking shoes are recommended.

FISHING FUN
Saturday, September 10, 9:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Learn basic fishing techniques and safety while fishing for the big one! Proper outdoor clothing, water, sunblock and sunglasses are recommended. Fishing gear is provided.

ARCHERY 101
Saturday September 17, 9:30 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Join USA Archery and N.F.A.A. certified staff to learn about archery! This exciting program teaches archery safety and how to properly use the equipment before getting to practice on the range. Equipment is provided. Note: Bows may be difficult to pull for smaller children.

OPEN RANGE ARCHERY
Saturday, September 17, 12:00 p.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required - call 561-741-1359 to register)
Join USA Archery and N.F.A.A. certified staff to hone your archery skills! This program is offered to archers who have attended 2 basic archery courses at Riverbend Park. Archers will shoot at different targets and different distances. Basic safety review will be conducted before heading to the range. Equipment is provided. Note: Bows may be difficult to pull for smaller children. 

NIGHT HIKE
Friday, September 23, 7:00 p.m.
Ages 8+, $5/participant (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist on a walk and observe the change from diurnal to nocturnal in the park. Good walking shoes and bug spray are recommended.

POLLINATORS
Saturday, September 24, 9:30 a.m.
All ages, $5/participant (Reservations required)
Join us to learn about the important job that pollinators do and benefits they provide to us. You may be surprised, not all pollinators are bugs! This program includes a trail walk searching for pollinators in the area, the plants they need to thrive, and the habitats they depend on for survival. Please wear closed-toe shoes.​

PARKS FOR POLLINATORS BIOBLITZ
September 1-30
Families/all ages, FREE (No reservations needed)
Join Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation and parks throughout the country in a fun challenge to see how many pollinator species can be documented this September by making observations on your own using the iNaturalist app. For details, visit www.pbcparks.com​
