Body

On April 2, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission (Sports Commission) awarded the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department (PBC Parks) its first Sports Hall of Fame Outstanding Sports Contributor award for its contribution to transforming the Palm Beaches into a leading and diverse sports destination.

It is a true honor for our entire team to be recognized for all the behind-the-scenes hard work, making Palm Beach County a great place to play, influencing countless lives and contributing to the overall positive local economic impact in sports tourism," said Jennifer Cirillo, director of Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation.

PBC Parks' award-winning venues are the Sports Commission's top supplier for tourism generated sports events, such as the US Baseball Junior Olympics, Perfect Games World Championships, USA Waterski National Championships, USA BMX Sunshine State Championships, First Responders Games, and Collegiate Golf Championship. These events resulted in over 61,000 visitors, 40,000 hotel room nights and $27 million of direct visitor spending on an annual basis.

From basketball to pickleball and racquetball courts, to swimming, volleyball, equestrian, adapted sports and e-sports, PBC Parks provides over 8,000 acres of free and affordable outdoor activities and amenities for people of all ages and abilities, elevating the sports scene in Palm Beach County.

PBC Parks has been recognized through a number of local, state, national and international awards for excellence in service, best practices and commitment to environmental sustainability, health, and community building, as well as the ability to address the social, recreational and wellness needs of the community.
