October 2023 Program Guide at Daggerwing Nature Center

All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated.  Please register online at www.pbcparks.com; under “Online Services” click on Register/Pay for Program, or visit the nature center to register and make payment. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form before each program. Please note, starting October 1, 2023, all naturalist program fees will be $5.00 per participant. Activities promote environmental awareness, conservation, and recreation.

ANIMAL FEEDINGS
Daily, 3:15 p.m. 
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
3:15 p.m. is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about one of Daggerwing’s resident animals and then watch while it’s fed. Wednesday - Owl; Thursday - Snake; Friday - Tortoise; Saturday - Alligator
 
MOTHER NATURE & ME: WILD WEBS
Tuesday, October 3, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through sto-ries, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!
 
DAGGERWING VISITS THE LIBRARY: ALLIGATORS
Tuesday, October 10, 3:30 p.m.
Ages 5+, FREE (Reservations required)
Enjoy a special program about alligators featuring a visit from some of the nature center’s resident animal ambassadors, at the West Boca Branch Library! Call the West Boca Branch Library for details and RSVP at (561) 470-1600.

INTRO TO ARCHERY
Friday, October 13, 10:00 a.m.
Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations required)
Join the USA Archery and N.F.A.A. certified staff and learn about the exciting sport of archery. This program teaches archery safety skills and proper use of a bow and arrow before practicing on the range.

MOTHER NATURE & ME: B IS FOR BAT
Tuesday, October 17, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 2-5 (w/guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifical-ly designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

RADICAL REPTILES
Saturday, October 21, 10:30 a.m.
Ages 5+, $5/participant (Reservations required)
Join a naturalist for a family-friendly program focusing on the amazing world of reptiles! Learn about these diverse scaly creatures and meet some resident reptiles up close and personal.

HOOT & HOWL
Friday, October 27, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
Bring the kids in costume and enjoy not-so-scary Halloween games and crafts* while learning about nocturnal creatures such as owls, toads, snakes and spiders! Remember to bring a flashlight and bug spray to continue the adventure outside along the boardwalk at night! *While supplies last.
