January 2017 Program Guide at Green Cay Nature Center

All programs are by reservation only, unless otherwise stated. Please call 561-966-7000 or visit the nature center to make program reservations. Fees (if applicable) are due the day of the program. All participants are required to sign a Program Participation Form for every program. If you are more than 5 minutes late to a program you have made a reservation for, your spot will be given to a person on the waiting list.

Join a docent for a guided tour of the wetlands. Please note, all tours are subject to cancellation, please call the nature center to confirm.

JR. NATURALIST
Jr. Herpetologist, Wednesday, January 4, 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Jr. Survivalist, Wednesday, January 4, 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Jr. Wetland Ecologist, Thursday, January 5, 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Jr. Ornithologist, Thursday, January 5, 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Jr. Lepidopterist, Friday, January 6, 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Jr. Botanist, Friday, January 6, 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Ages 9 to 14, $10/session or $50/all six (RSVP required)
The Junior Naturalist Series is designed for youth who are interested in nature and outdoor activities. The goal of the program is to actively put youth in touch with nature and teach them about the Green Cay Wetlands and South Florida wildlife. 

BIRDS & BREAKFAST
Saturday, January 14, 9:00 a.m.
Ages 9 and older, $3/person (RSVP required, limit 10)
Start the day at Green Cay and enjoy coffee and refreshments before embarking on a one hour birding tour with one of their naturalists.

NIGHT STALKERS
Thursday, January 26, 6:00 p.m.
Ages 9 and older, $5/person (RSVP required, limit 20)
Join a naturalist on a night-time boardwalk tour looking at nature from the point of view of its nocturnal residents.

STORY & CRAFT TIME
Saturday, January 28, 10:00 a.m.
Suggested ages: 4 to 10 years, $2/child (RSVP required, limit 10)
Kids will discover nature through crafts and stories about animals and other  nature-related themes! 
 
WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP
Saturday, January 14, 21, 28 & February 4, 1:00 p.m.
$50/all sessions ($40/Friends of Green Cay members) 
Learn to paint wildlife in watercolors: introduction to watercolor painting, materials needed, and how to use them.
 
TAI CHI & CHI KUNG
Four week sessions- Thursdays, 2:00 & 3:00 p.m. (call for start dates)
$45/each for four sessions, $35/Friends of Green Cay members, $15/drop in fee for one session 
(RSVP required, limit 20)
Experience the benefits of these ancient Chinese systems of exercise and meditation. Improve flexibility, balance, muscle tone, energy and mental well being. 
 
GENTLE YOGA
Four week sessions- Wednesdays, 2:15 p.m. (call for start dates)
$45/each for four sessions, $35/Friends of Green Cay members, $15/drop in fee for one session 
(RSVP required, limit 8)
Find peace, tranquility, mindfulness, strength, balance, and flexibility with a refreshing afternoon yoga session. Please bring own yoga mat. Feel free to bring any props, blankets, etc.
