Based on his belief that "we are all custodians of the environment," Mark T. Fuller designed bridge and overlook railings reusing pieces of the structure's original pressure treated wood posts, since chemicals would prevent them being recycled. Mark suggests the wooden posts are a metaphor for gardens, the place where man manipulates nature to suit man's needs.

Orange accents reference flowering plants and trees in the Shade & Color Island and attract visitors onto the bridge. The railing's delicate leaf patterns provide maximum visibility to the beautiful surroundings. As they meander around the Island, visitors encounter garden-related poetry stained into concrete paths.
