There are five professionals helping the County Administrator manage the day-to-day operations of Palm Beach County government. Each is in charge of several departments as well as serving as liaison to a number of councils, committees and boards.
Verdenia C. Baker, Deputy County Administrator, joined the County in 1987 through the Office of Financial Management and Budget. Ms. Baker oversees Planning, Zoning and Building, the Office of Small Business Assistance and the Tourist Development Council. She also serves as liaison to the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council.
Shannon R. LaRocque, PE, Assistant County Administrator, joined the County in 2005 as the Scripps Program Manager. She worked in private consulting as a professional engineer and in Municipal Government prior to joining the County. Ms. LaRocque currently manages the Office of Economic Development, Water Utilities, Scripps Program, Max Planck and the Convention Center Hotel project and oversees the Department of Housing and Community Development. She serves as the liaison to the Housing Finance Authority, Workforce Development Board, Business Development Board, Westgate CRA and the Community Land Trust.
Vince Bonvento, Assistant County Administrator, Public Safety Director, joined the County in 1975 as the Federal Grants Coordinator. Mr. Bonvento oversees the Criminal Justice Commission, the Office of the Medical Examiner, Public Safety and serves as liaison to Court Programs and the Solid Waste Authority.
Jon Van Arnam, Assistant County Administrator, joined the County in 1988, serving as the Deputy Director of the Department of Environmental Resources Management before appointment to his current position. Mr. Van Arnam oversees Community Services, Libraries, Parks & Recreation, and Purchasing. He also serves as the liaison to the Health Department, and the Health Care District.
Brad Merriman, Assistant County Administrator, joined the County in 1983 as Employee Relations Manager. He oversees Legislative Affairs, Human Resources, the Office of Public Affairs, the Metropolitan Planning Organization, Palm Tran, Risk Management, the County Cooperative Extension Service and the Office of Equal Opportunity.
