Condo Gardening Tips

June 2006

By Gene Joyner, Extension Agent
Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service

This month is the time for our second general feeding of all landscaping with a good quality fertilizer. Make sure that any last minute pruning that hasn’t been done is finished quickly as we are now in our hurricane season and tropical storms can develop at any time.

If you want to add landscaping, which you probably do during the summer season, area nurseries have good inventories at this time of year and plants installed now will have the benefit of our rainy season to become quickly established.

If you have sod that needs attention, you can do replacement of sod at any time or if you have major insect and disease problems, take care of those promptly before extensive areas of the turfgrass are damaged.

If you’re having problems with landscape plantings and need advice, call the Extension office at 233-1750 in the north and central county areas or 276-1260 in the south county area.
