Chief Ludos began his career in Michigan in 1970, after leaving the U.S Army as a Captain, having served from 1966-70 in a variety of positions and assignments from infantry, special ops, to military police. As a police officer his assignments included; patrol, traffic, motor officer, K-9, narcotics, detective, and special response team. He also served as a training officer, holding instructor credentials in firearms, defensive tactics, edged weapons, driving, special response, gas, and a variety of others. In 1986 he was appointed as the Director of the Washtenaw Police Academy, which served under the Michigan State Police and POST, budget and policies. The academy grew to being recognized by the State POST as the premier academy in Michigan serving as the test ground for new programs and the re-training of recruits who had failed to complete the state mandates at other academies. From 1987-1995 Chief Ludos trained over 1,000 recruits and nearly twice that number in in-service programs.

Chief Ludos holds a certificate in Fire Science, served as a certified (NFA) arson investigator, has an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement, dual Bachelors in Criminal Justice and Sociology, and Graduate and Masters Studies in Public Administration and Educational Leadership. He is a graduate of the Law Enforcement Executive Leadership Institute, the 57th session of the FBI’s Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar, and the Leadership Institute.

Chief Ludos is currently serving in his sixth chief’s position, being sworn in at Greenacres on October 1st, 2007. He has gained a reputation as a change agent/reform chief and has taken over primarily troubled organizations, leading them to positions of excellence. He served in Cocoa, Florida from 2003-2007, leading them to State Accreditation in only two years, and being one of only three accredited agencies in Brevard County. He serves on several State Boards and is a member of the Florida Chiefs Training Committee, which is responsible for providing the training to all Florida Police Chiefs at their two annual conferences.
