CUSTOMER SERVICE COMPLIMENTS

The City of Boynton Beach sent a letter thanking Fleet Management for providing them with fuel after Hurricane Frances. "Maintaining the integrity of our water and sewage system was a focal point for the City. Unfortunately after the storm we lost electrical power and needed to run on generator power. The delivery your staff made to the west Water Plant and Lift Station tank allowed us to provide water and sewage uninterrupted to our citizens."

Director of Road and Bridge, Michael
Bowman sent a memo stating, "I would like to take this
opportunity to thank you and your staff for all the
assistance you provided during the recovery period after
Hurricane Frances. Everyone involved worked long
hours under trying conditions to ensure the safety of the
residents of Palm Beach County. This was a great
team effort displayed by County employees providing a
positive impact on the community."

Mike Anthes
of Fleet Management received a letter from Pat Fessel of
Sago Palm Academy thanking him for his "kind assistance in
responding to our facility when our generator failed in
the aftermath of Hurricane Frances. Your generosity
is greatly appreciated by everyone."

Cathy Street of Parks & Recreation stated,
"Larry Mohr, Bob
Onstott, and Henry Montano were
extremely professional about their work and went above
and beyond the call of duty in terms of customer
service. Every day, they let me know exactly what
they would be doing and called me at the end of the day
to update me. They also made sure that, no matter
what stage the repairs were in, we were able to still
use all areas in the house."

Sachiko Taketani of the State Attorney's Office said,
"I would like to acknowledge Ms.
Cynthia Huggins for the excellent
assistance she provides. Cynthia has taken the
time to educate and support me, starting with how to use
as gas pump to troubled vehicle situations. She
has shown patience and understanding every step of the
way. It's nice to know I can count on her and she
will assist me in any situation!"

Tom Wenham said, "... I would like to thank Cynthia
Huggins for her always great attitude
when you see her. She took care of my situation
quickly and to the point. I would like to thank Bill
Thompson in the tire repair shop for
getting my tire problem fixed. All told I was in
and out in about 25 minutes. Great job. Both
staff members are excellent county employees and say a
lot about your operation."

In a letter from Property Appraiser Gary Nikolitis, he
praised Andre Gonzalex, Robert Shorr and Chester
Pasakaluk for volunteering their time to
renovate the home of an employee returning after a
13-month deployment in Iraq. He said, "I just
wanted to take this opportunity to acknowledge the
generosity of Andre, Robert and Chester and
let you know of the good work and community spirit
exhibited by each. They are deserving of
appropriate recognition."

"I applaud you for assigning a fresh and energetic Trades Crew Chief, Mr. Hector Pazos, to the Western Community. Mr. Pazos' leadership and dedication was evident when the Eagle Academy burdened him with a rather extensive deficiency list and requested that these repairs be made prior to our opening day of August 12, 2003. Mr Pazos accepted the challenge and immediately began coordinating a joint effort with his staff. I commend the following Facility Management personnel for their hard work, devotion and professionalism: Mr. Sam Scantlebury, Mr. Steve Jogodnik, Mr. Roger Shelton, and Mr. Gary Juhasz. As a result of each members individual effort the Eagle Academy opened without an incident".

Marty Martinez received a note of appreciation on a "job well done" from Fire Rescue. "He took care of the problem in his usual excellent manner." Fire Rescue appreciated his quick response.

The Purchasing Department sent a note of appreciation to Jim Alexander, Rafael Dominguez, Jan Maese, Alex Valdes and Rick Wesinger for doing a "great job" for them. "I just want to take the opportunity to let you know that the Facilities Department is always there for us.

Thank you to Jim Carroll, Phyllis Koch, Hector Pazos, and Bobby Pendergrass for their assistance in getting the facility and equipment ready for the Inquest. Your "ability to anticipate and handle the needs of the Court, and more importantly the visitors, played a big part in the quelling the pre-inquest anxiety level and having a smooth and productive session."

Jack Breland and the Facility Management North Zone Staff were recognized by the Clerk of the Circuit Court for their work in relocating the Clerk's Office to their new quarters in the North County Courthouse.
|

Mark Swanson and Marty Martinez of Security received a letter from Connie Hawkins of the Clerk of the Circuit Court expressing her gratitude for "their due diligence and dedication to their jobs" for their assistance on the North County Courthouse project. "It has been my experience in working with this department that their goal is to serve and satisfy their customers.

|
Andy Gamble saved the County substantial cost by preventing a Halon dump in the ISS computer section when the alarm system went off due to an accidental refrigerant leak from a broken fitting on the system. This quick thinking stopped the Halon release and enabled the Governmental Center Facilties team to quickly bring the building back under operation and control. Special Thanks for the fast and excellent emergency response by Andy and the Governmental Center team.

Jim Carroll and Bob Wood received a complimentary letter from Fire Rescue's Inspector Wiltse (Fire Marshall's Office) thanking them for their assistance in improving the fire alarm monitoring procedures at the various facilities occupied by fixed base operators at PBIA.
|

|
John Gould of Fleet Management received a compliment from one of his customers stating, "John does exceptional work on all the vehicles and especially electrical work. ... I enjoy working with him and look forward to many more years of the same. Mr. Gould is a great asset to Fleet Management."

Charlie Kelly received a customer compliment stating, " Charlie always goes out of his way to insure complete satisfaction with his customers. It is enjoyable working with Charlie and his positive attitude. Mr. Kelly is a great asset to Fleet Management."

Don Bennett of Parking received a Certificate of Commendation from the Board of County Commissioners for his "exemplary service and dedication to the preservation of Homeland Security in Palm Beach County."

Carol Easterling, Addie Brazzle, and Jill Lauren received a letter of commendation from a customer after they spent considerable time helping a daughter locate her father at the Parking Facility. The women said, "You were all very considerate and helpful and your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Mark Swanson was complimented for his good work on the Security Contract which has resulted in specification improvements and a reduction in complaints from customers regarding contracted security services.

|
Don Bennett of Parking was complimented for his assistance to an employee who had lost her transponder. She said, "He was very helpful to me when I was running in for a meeting and didn't have the transponder to get into the lot the other morning."
|
|
|
Charley Daniels wrote a note commending Zeke Musa of Fleet Management when he locked his keys in his vehicle. Within minutes of his call, Zeke arrived to unlock his vehicle. Mr. Daniels stated, "I have never experienced such excellence in customer service."

|
Diana Cunningham wrote to Robert Shorr of Facilities Management thanking him for his work on the lobby renovation. She said,"I just can't thank you enough for the fine job you did. ...You have been excellent to work with and I just want you to know how much I appreciate it!

On April 4, 2002, Tom Atchley of Communications was headed north on Jog Road in his County van when he passed a disabled vehicle on the shoulder of the road. He noticed the occupants banging on the windows. He passed them, made a U-turn and went back to assist them. He found two elderly women trapped inside the car due to an electrical system failure. He talked them through opening the door handles. They had been trapped for almost a hour with the heat rising all the while. Mrs. Mishler said, "Tom Atchley is a wonderful man who literally saved her life and her girlfriend's life. We had been in the car for a very long time and no one would come to our aid. we can't believe Tom took the time to help us and you should know what a valuable employee the County has in Mr. Atchley."

"Bill has been extremely responsive as our
telephone analyst. He has worked with us to modify
and improve our automated attendant script, immediately
responds to trouble calls resolving most within the same
24 hours. He is cheerful, a real team player and
completely knowledgeable and confident. His
efforts are greatly appreciated."

Gail Tyndall of Public Information praised Frank Hernandez of Security for walking her to her car after dark on several occasions when she worked late. He made sure she was safely out of the parking lot before leaving. He also took her phone call one evening when she called to ask how to get into her office over the weekend without a key and he followed up with her on Monday to see if she had any problem. She said, "This kind of attitude goes a long way to make new employees feel welcome and part of a good organization."

Parks and Recreation sent a letter of thanks recognizing Gary Gellerman, Garth Josephs, Tony Hurbs, and Mil Balfrey for their assistance and support in expediting the replacement of the drain field at John Prince Park Campground during their peak season. They were cited for their "ability to cut through the red tape to complete the project."

Bernard Knowles of Facilities Management received a Kudos for managing a painting project at the Emergency Operations Center.

Mike Fox of Facilities Management was complimented by PBSO Corrections for his on-going support and project work at the jail.

Hannah Richey at the State Attorney's Office complimented Norma Mills of Facilities Management for providing immediate responses to requests, Hannah states "not surprised at Norma's actions, for the past 25 years she has always helped us in any way possible."

Debbie Towers of Parks and Recreation sent a Kudos to Chris Arbour and Walton Leiba of Communications for their work on restoring phone service to the Morikami Museum after a contractor in working in the area cut through the underground telephone lines cutting all 25 incoming lines. Chris and Walton worked to locate the lines, dug and found the cable, and spliced the cable back together and had the Morikami operational by 2:00 a.m.

Brian McNamara and Chuck Cannon of Facilities Management were thanked by Larry Helmich of Property and Real Estate Management for their "First Class Customer Service (with a smile)" for quickly repairing his leaky office ceiling which was the result of an air conditioning problem.
|
|
|
Excellent work by Lee Harper, Electronics Technician, Communications on repairing and re-programming the damage caused by a lightning hit to the Stockade Buildings T&U fire annunciator panel. The repair was done in a very timely and professional manner, which eliminated the need for an operational accommodation by PBSO.
|
|
|
Fire Rescue complimented Bill Thompson of Fleet Management for a quick fix to a potential flat tire. He saved time on the repair as well as avoiding the flat.
|
|
|
Chris Arbour and Walton Leiba, electronic technicians were praised for their work by Palm Tran "as the quality was the highest and the work was performed in a professional manner."

|
Kudos to the Parking staff for your "excellent assistance with resolving my parking dilemma. When I pulled in this morning I was greeted by the parking attendant and my new transmitter. That’s what I call excellent customer service."

The County Attorney’s Office praised Betsy Barr for continually providing support by answering questions related to plat review and Development Review Committee issues. "She always responds quickly with answers that are short, complete, and to the point. . . she deserves recognition for her outstanding loyalty and commitment to the County!"

Kudos to the CJC Facilities Management Crew from Art Roy of the Medical Examiner’s Office for "continuously providing a very high degree of quality service in spite of the sometimes urgency of our needs due to the critical nature of our operations."

Jeff Collins received a Certificate of Excellence in recognition of valuable contribution to the Inmate Programs/Support Division.

|
Gary Kus received a letter of thanks from Jane Lucas, Community Action for retrieving her keys from the elevator shaft of the Department of Community Services. She stated, "I was informed that it was not your responsibility however, you did not ignore my call."

|
Mike McPherson’s and Jack Breland’s North County Courthouse Expansion and Renovation was the "project from hell. Many, many hours of effort and oversight to ensure value and minimize costs for change orders associated with the electronic systems required."
|
|
|
Jim Barnes’ and Anil Patel’s work on the Supervisor of Elections was complimented for their "fantastic coordination, herculean effort in site visits and turned a potential disaster into a win situation for the electronic systems that are required.
|
|
|
Tim Lynch and Bill Kruger were recognized for their "great effort hurdling obstacles caused by the designers and ensured systems specified were adhered to," for work on the Midwestern Community Center.

Mike McPherson was praised by Jim Carroll for his work on the Convention Center. Jim stated Mike had, "great coordination, ensured that all reviews/needs were addressed and forced the issue of dry pipe pre-action systems, redundancy in audio and a viable security system."

Kudos from PBSO to Tom Atchley, Colby Cole and Al Pacha for identifying, programming and correcting a security breach at the Stockade.
