certificates for lease agreements monitored by Property & Real Estate
Management.

Kulesa (Shop Supervisor, Fleet Management), and Russ
White (Equipment Analyst, Fleet Management) for their
ingenuity in implementing a generator diesel fuel swapping program which has
resulted in a savings of $261,928 to the County over the last three years.
Florence Siegal
(Volunteer Coordinator, Facilities Management South) for her long time
commitment, involvement in building a viable volunteer base, cost savings to
the County for the many services provided by her volunteers, and customer
service to the Public Defender's Office, Clerk of the Court, Court
Administration and Facilities Management.

customization themselves, they were able to free up $310,000 set aside for
this capital project so that these funds will be swept as a result of their
efforts.

different disciplines couldn't find a solution to that wouldn't have
impacted other areas of the jail.

willingness to assume responsibility for solving a water intrusion problem
at the Palm Tran Administration and Maintenance Facility.

Minor (Trades Crew Chief) for their exemplary commitment to the
County through dedication to their jobs and customers. These employees
have been faced with a shortage of staff of over 30% for over a year.
They are willing to adapt their schedules to meet the needs of their
customers by scheduling and monitoring projects on weekends to avoid
inconveniencing customers. They maintain a positive attitude that
keeps their crews' morale high.
Ernie Visoke
(Irrigation Technician, Facilities Management) and Chuck
Stancil (Facilities Maintenance Supervisor) for the extensive
cooperation and coordination between Facilities Management, PBSO and the Drug
Farm Residents on the irrigation installation project at the Stockade.
This team did what no outside vendor was willing to do because of the risk
involved in damaging the underground utilities. This team assumed the
risk, took a creative approach by using Drug Farm Residents as laborers to dig
trenches and install the irrigation piping and realized a cost savings of
approximately 50%.
Jim Hicks
(Supervisor of Audio/Video Systems, Communication) and Len
Schmader (Supervisor of Radio Systems) for their exceptional
leadership, outstanding customer service and cost savings realized in
switching out electronic systems from 54 old buses to new ones for the Palm
Tran fleet.

2000
Winners
Rudy Gibson
of Communications, developed and taught a comprehensive program on
communication and electronic theory including the latest technology to his
new co-workers to improve their skill levels.
Glenn Sorensen
and Chris Arbour of Communications
brought the maintenance program in-house and developed a price agreement for
the procurement of equipment and material necessary for on-going maintenance
and installation of mux units for the high-speed voice/data communications
network at an estimated cost savings of $247,197.
Facilities Management CJC employees, Bill
Steinebach, Larry Davis, Jeff
Collins, and Chuck Stancil,
reorganized and decreased Facilities’ complement while maintaining al of
the expansion which occurred in the 1990s and improved the work relationship
with Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office.
Rod Lyew-Fong,
Chris Newell, Tony
Malizia, and Dan Hoens of
Facilities Management North County replaced 4,500 square feet of decking at
the Agriculture Center at a cost savings of $100,000.
Facilities Management’s Joe
Burns and Ron Petrich researched
and found a solution to the constant problem of damaged hot and cold
dispensing units on the sinks and water coolers at the Stockade at a cost
savings of $13,308.76.
Skip Fowler,
Steve Francis and James
Ussery of Fleet Management created a template for PBIA’s
AOA gates and built a new gate after the original was damaged by a fuel
truck. This had been an on-going problem at PBIA.
Chauncey Taylor, II
director of Facilities Services coordinated the program of retrofitting nine
(9) schools with hurricane shutters and resulted in restoring 20,000
additional spaces of shelter.

Winners
Robert Taylor
of Facilities Management, led a team of employees to correct code
non-compliance conditions in the Engineering building at a cost savings and
with minimal inpact on normal operations.
PPIG’s Dal Major
created a partnership between the Library and FD&O which resulted in a
major improvement to the process of re-carpeting the Library.
Fleet Management’s Peter
Schmitt, Tommy Genovese
and James Kulesa implemented a
cost effective plan to dispose of hazardous waste materials.
Fleet Management’s Tony
Hernandez and Russel White
for their dedication and outstanding customer service that has made the fuel
delivery program a success.
Ken Fowler
of Fleet Management for his innovative improvements to the tree spade which
aids in the relocation, transport and safety.

Glen Johnson
of Communications for his ingenuity and work (on his own time) in designing
and building a portable audio/video system to be used for remote audio/video
testimony involving abused or sexually molested minors for Court
Administration.

Woodstock of Communications for designing and fabricating six
control boxes to modify the Courthouse inmate and judges’ elevators
by-pass control system at a cost savings of $5,612.
Peter Kolb
of Facilities Management for upgrading the existing air conditioning system
at the Health Department Building located at 901 Evernia at a cost savings
of approximately $180,000.
Tom Land of
Facilities Management for assuming responsibility of two vacant A/C
positions as well as completing various special projects.

alarm panels to provide remote access, for developing and implementing a
preventative maintenance schedule for alarm systems, and for designing all
new systems as smart systems so maintenance needs can be determined from a

courtroom playback function.
