The Bureau of Safety Services is led by Deputy Chief Randy Sheppard. Chief Sheppard brings over 25 years of emergency service experience having served within all of the major divisions of Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue. This experience includes a previous 6 year tenure in the Bureau during which time he was responsible for supervising construction-related inspections, inspections in existing buildings and the retro-fitting of fire sprinklers in high-rise buildings. He is actively involved in the Fire Chief's Associations at both the State and National level and has served as the Fire/Emergency Services, State-Wide Disaster Coordinator.

The Bureau of Safety Services implements a proactive strategy to provide for all of the fire prevention and loss reduction services needed by our community. The Bureau's administration directs the periodic review and adoption of the latest model fire codes as well as local amendments to meet local conditions affecting the health and safety of our residents and visitors.

Our fire prevention bureau remains on the cutting edge of the industry by utilizing the specialized talents of Division Chief Jeff P. Collins, Fire Protection engineer. Chief Collins serves on numerous NFPA committees, The Florida State Fire Code Advisory Board and numerous professional associations to insure that the Bureau of Safety Services is implementing the most up-to-date fire and life safety codes and practices.

Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue's Bureau of Safety Services will continue to annually review the effectiveness of our fire and life safety programs, to assure that our community continues to reduce the effects of fire on their business, homes and family. It is of vital importance that Bureau personnel continually interact with other fire service professionals, the building and fire protection industries and our residents in order to assure the future direction of our programs and budgetary needs.
