Mouse over the icons above for a quick fact about that topic.

Risk Watch™ is a school-based curriculum that links teachers with community safety experts and parents. The curriculum is divided into five age-appropriate teaching modules.

  • Pre-K/Kindergarten
  • Grades 1-2
  • Grades 3-4
  • Grades 5-6
  • Grades 7-8
  • Developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Website with co-funding from the Home Safety Council™ and in collaboration with a panel of respected safety and injury prevention experts, Risk Watch™ gives children and families the skills and knowledge needed to create safer homes and communities.

The Risk Watch™ curricla meets the Florida Sunshine State Standards for Language Arts, Health and Physical Fitness, and supports the Florida Comprehensive Achievement Test (FCAT).

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue provides local schools with the curriculum and student workbooks as a tool for the teachers to use to reinforce injury prevention. Teachers may also request a Fire Safety Specialist to conduct classroom presentations on these subjects. Law Enforcement officers typically do presentations in the schools to educate students on the dangers of firearms.

If you are looking to include the entire school in a presentation (versus individual classes), you are in luck! We can accommodate the entire student body of your school with our Injury Prevention Stage Shows and Fire Safety Stage Shows that we offer in an assembly format.

The curriculum is divided into 5 lessons which address the following topics:

  • Bike/Pedestrian/Playgournd Safety and Fall Prevention
  • Choking, Suffocation, and Strangulation Prevention
  • Firearms Injury Prevention
  • Fire Safety and Burn Prevention
  • Motor Vehicle Safety
  • Poisoning Prevention
  • Water Safety and Drowning Prevention
