Palm Beach County believes that it is appropriate to utilize all available resources to facilitate economic growth in Palm Beach County. To that end, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC), through its Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) has created sources of funding which will enable entrepreneurs, businesses, and appropriate community-based agencies to conceive and implement business ventures that will create jobs, revitalize communities and enhance the overall quality of life for all Palm Beach County residents.
SOURCES OF FUNDING Since FY 1998, in accordance with BCC Directives, HCD has allocated 10% of the County’s annual Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) entitlement to create the “Set-Aside Program for Economic Development”. Annually, approximately $700,000 is set-aside to fund this program. Olive Avenue (Government Center), 10th Floor, West Palm Beach, FL 33401 Monday - Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM HCD also funds a micro-enterprise loan program which is administered by the Business Loan Fund of the Palm Beaches. Approximately $434,000 in CDBG funds were made available to fund this program which commenced in January 2003. Information on the Micro-Enterprise Business Loan FundIn February 2003, the County began operation of a Community Development Business Loan Program designed to assist established or expanding businesses with financial assistance.
