On July 12, 2003, the ISS Director officially changed the organizational structure of the department to form the Strategic Services and Security Division. The recognition of a need for improving the quality of programs, processes and services was the justification for establishing this "focal point for many of the internal improvement initiatives undertaken by ISS."
The group is tasked with leading improvement initiatives in the following programs:
- Strategic Planning
- Policies & Procedures
- Technical Standards
- IT Security
- Communications and Marketing
- Disaster Recovery
The Division will also manage selected enterprise projects and provide a level of oversight to assure best practices for managing IT projects, including initial cost-justification, budget preparation, project plan, issue resolution process and status reporting.
