"THE MPO'S ANSWER TO RISING FUEL COSTS"BEGIN YOUR VANPOOL ADVENTURE TODAY!AND $AVE , $AVE , $AVE Still looking for that magic answer to rising fuel costs? The MPO wants to encourage you to think about vanpools and/or carpools as an alternative for your transportation needs. For example, look at the successful vanpool program at the VA Hospital in West Palm Beach. There are now 25 vanpools moving 190 people between home and work. That means there are 160 fewer vehicles clogging Palm Beach County's roadways. As a working commuter in Palm Beach County, perhaps a suggestion to vanpool and/or carpool to your place of employment might bring a timely answer for those seeking a more economical mode of transportation. Palm Beach County employees recently answered a survey that reflects a tremendous interest in finding a more creative solution to their travel dilemmas. MPO staff, along with the staffs from South Florida Vanpool and South Florida Commuter Services is working to match those employees interested in sharing a ride. This project can have a tremendous impact on road congestion, save each commuter significant dollars, not to mention wear and tear on private vehicles or driver stress.
