Volunteers are invited to join County Commissioner Mary McCarty in support of the Sand Sifters monthly beach cleanup at Oceanfront/Ocean Ridge Hammock Parks on Saturday, Feb. 3.  Sign-in starts at 8:00 a.m. All residents are welcome to participate in our efforts in keeping the beaches of Palm Beach County free of litter.  Free parking, bags, gloves, t-shirts, refreshments and door prizes will be available.  Student volunteer credit forms will be provided. Participants are asked to wear shoes and sunscreen.  Bring friends!

The Sand Sifters have recently initiated a pilot program in order to rid cigarette and other types of litter from our local beaches.  For more information, visit www.SandSifters.org.  Based on nationwide studies, this initiative could result in a decrease of litter by 45 to 70 percent.  The program is a joint effort in conjunction with Palm Beach County, Keep Palm Beach County Beautiful, Inc. and other agencies including various local municipalities such as Boynton Beach and Ocean Ridge.  Representatives from these agencies will be available to provide additional information on the program, upcoming initiatives and future plans to maintain clean beaches throughout Palm Beach County.  The pilot program was created by Keep America Beautiful.

Location:  Oceanfront Park Pavillion, 6451 North Ocean Blvd., Boynton Beach. (Located on A1A just north of the Ocean Ave. bridge in Boynton Beach.  Meet at the pavillion in the lower parking lot.)

Pre-register:  Contact Gary Solomon at (561)734-9128 or  TheRecipeExchange@Adelphia.net
