Commissioner Helps with Homeless Count

BCC Chairman Jeff Koons volunteered to help with the nationwide point-in-time count of homeless people on January 28. Commissioner Koons conducted surveys of homeless persons at the soup kitchen at St. George’s Episcopal Church in Riviera Beach. The 24-hour head count provides a “snapshot” of the local homeless situation and is required every two years for federal HUD funding. Last year, HUD awarded $4.2 million for local homeless assistance programs.
