County to Open Cold Weather Shelters

The Palm Beach County Public Safety Department’s Division of Emergency Management has activated the Cold Weather Emergency Shelter Plan for all of Palm Beach County. The Cold Weather Emergency Shelters will be open beginning at 7 p.m., Friday, February 18, 2007. Residents seeking refuge from the cold should contact the following:

The National Weather Service predicts an overnight temperature of 40o or a wind chill factor of 35o in Palm Beach County. These conditions are expected to last for more than four hours, prompting the opening of the Cold Weather Emergency Shelters. The Division of Emergency Management will continue to monitor weather developments and make announcements on any further shelter openings as necessary.
