Commissioner Vana Attends Press Conference in Support of Teenage Safe Driving Awareness Week

Former State Representative Irving Slosberg held a press conference on April 7, 2009 in the Rose Garden at Governmental Center, West Palm Beach, to raise awareness of the hazards of inexperienced and/or alcohol impaired driving and to acknowledge Governor Charlie Crist's declaration of "Teenage Safe Driving Awareness Week," April 20 - 25, 2009. The Board of County Commissioners also proclaimed this same week in Palm Beach County.

Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death among teenagers in Florida and the nation, accounting for 38 percent of all deaths in that age group. In Florida, teen traffic crashes are the number one killer of teens. The Dori Slosberg Foundation, created in honor of Irving Slosberg's daughter who was killed in a traffic accident, has developed a driver safety program for teens and parents throughout Florida to spread awareness and information on safe driving practices
