Hurricane Center Director Bill Read Speaks at Palm Beach County EOC Media Orientation

On Tuesday, May 27th, 2008, Palm Beach County Public Affairs and the Division of Emergency Management hosted an orientation for members of the news media, meteorologists and public information officers. Topping the agenda was National Hurricane Center Director Bill Read, giving a preview of the 2008 season. Other speakers included Matt Cronin, Administrative Manager for Emergency Management, who gave a presentation of the County’s plans for the season, and John Jamason of Public Affairs, who reviewed media procedures during activation of the EOC. Public Affairs Director Lisa De La Rionda hosted the event and joined Emergency Management Director Chuck Tear in welcoming attendees to the heart of Palm Beach County’s emergency operations. A question and answer session and a tour of the facility followed for those members of the media who were new to hurricanes.
