Budget and Taxes Discussed at Community Forum

Commissioner Jess Santamaria held his regular community forum on July 16 at the original Wellington mall. The topic was the proposed FY-2009 county budget and property taxes.

Assistant County Administrator Brad Merriman gave a PowerPoint presentation on the county budget process and how the BCC is addressing a series of property tax revenue shortfalls. The program was followed by an open question-and-answer session.

Approximately 50 western communities residents attended the two-hour discussion. Commissioner Santamaria said that due to vacations, there will be no community forum in August. The next monthly forum is September 17 at 7 p.m.
