Commissioner Kanjian Salutes Veterans
September 29, 2008 On Saturday, September 20th, Commissioner Bob Kanjian visited Stand Down House to join in their celebration over the donation by JM Family Enterprises of a new Toyota van. The Stand Down House, in suburban Lake Worth, is a non-profit agency that has provided health care services for homeless veterans since May 2000. Since its inception, the Stand Down House has reintegrated more than 1,200 homeless veterans back into the community. To all veterans, the term “Stand Down” has a deep and special significance as it refers to a combat unit being relieved of duty from the front line because that unit has served honorably and courageously in battle and it now deserves time for rest and recuperation. The term ”Stand Down” is symbolic of the support the Stand Down House provides to our country’s veterans.
